Design Engineer

Description

The position of Design Engineer at Hughes-Anderson is responsible for the following duties:

  • Reading and summarization of the client’s specifications.
  • Creating of calculations based on the current edition of ASME Code.
  • Creation of general arrangement drawings (using AutoCad)
  • Creation of fabrication notes based on customer specs, TEMA, and API-660.
  • Creation of Bill of Materials for major materials, including all required material specific notes.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to review and summarize client specifications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, problem solver.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.

Preffered Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCad.
  • Knowledge of ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 1, Sec. II-D, API-660, and TEMA a plus.
  • Knowledge of HTRI or Aspen thermal design software a plus.
  • Knowledge of Compress mechanical design software a plus.

Detail Draftsman / CAD Operator

Duties include:

  • Creating, modifying, and revising detail drawings for shell and tube heat exchangers.
  • Modifying and revising bills of material
  • Working with design engineers to develop designs into full fabrication drawings.
  • Self-checking completed work as well as checking the work of other detailers.
  • Working directly with the shop employees during fabrication.

Requirements

  • Proficient with AutoCad v. 2014 or later.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong math ability: algebra, trig., etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, problem solver.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.

Preffered Qualifications

  • 2 year Technical Degree or 1-2 years experience working in an engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 1, API-660, and TEMA a plus.

CNC Machinist duties include the following:

  • Determine, select, and install proper cutting tool.
  • Load materials with overhead crane.
  • Work with design engineers to communicate potential issues.
  • Self-checking of completed work.
  • Working directly with office and shop employees during fabrication.

Requirements

  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass the required ASME Code qualifying weld test using stick, tig, or subarc process.

Preffered Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with shell and tube exchangers, pressure vessels, or other ASME Code welding experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and weld procedures.
